Match preparation
Tactics & formation
Build a lineup around your players, balance tempo and pressing, and prepare your halftime plan in ClubRise.

Start with the squad you have
A formation is a way to use your available players. Before changing the shape, look at the positions you can cover, the condition of your starters and the alternatives on your bench. A famous name or an attractive overall rating does not answer all three questions.
ClubRise players have detailed positions, skills and foot ratings. Read those alongside the role you want them to perform. A player who suits a slot can be a more practical choice than a higher-rated player whose strengths belong elsewhere. No formation guarantees a win.
Build a complete eleven
Choose a formation in Squad, then place your players into its actual slots. Check the goalkeeper first, the defensive line next, and the connections between midfield and attack. Save the arrangement you intend to use; the saved slot mapping matters, not just the list of selected names.
For example, if your usable wide players are limited but you have several suitable central midfielders, compare the available narrow shapes before forcing players into wide roles. This is a preparation exercise, not a claim that a narrow formation will beat a particular opponent.
Review availability as well as ability. Injuries and official suspensions can remove an otherwise obvious starter from consideration. Keep appropriate substitutes available instead of spending every decision on the first eleven.
Treat tempo and pressing as decisions
Tempo and pressing are separate tactical controls. Raising both to the maximum is not a substitute for understanding your squad. Consider the players who will carry out the plan and review the match replay to see how your team moves and uses the ball.
Begin with a plan you can explain. If you change formation, tempo, pressing and several starters at once, it becomes difficult to understand what helped or hurt. Make a small number of deliberate adjustments and compare more than a single scoreline.
A result contains uncertainty. A win does not prove every tactical choice was correct, and one defeat does not prove the shape is unusable. Use the replay and the next preparation cycle to refine your decisions.
Prepare halftime before kickoff
ClubRise lets you save halftime plans for winning, drawing and losing. Decide how you want the team to react in each situation before the match begins. A plan for protecting a lead can differ from the plan you use when you need a goal.
These are preset instructions. Do not wait for the replay to reach halftime expecting it to become a live editor. The match uses its saved kickoff context, so changing today's lineup does not rewrite a match that has already been recorded.
Your pre-match checklist
Use a short routine before each official fixture. Check the in-game deadline for tactical changes and leave time to save your choices. Official schedules and competition formats can differ between EU and Asia; use the schedule shown by your current server.
- Check injuries, suspensions and the condition of your own players.
- Confirm the formation, every starting slot and suitable substitutes.
- Review tempo, pressing and all three halftime situations.
- Save the plan before the displayed deadline, then review the published match afterward.
